15A NCAC 02D .0537 CONTROL OF MERCURY EMISSIONS



(a) For the purpose of this Rule, the following definitions apply:

"Mercury" means the element mercury, excluding any associated elements, and includes mercury in particulates, vapors, aerosols, and compounds. "Stationary source" means the total plant site. This includes all emissions (stacks, ducts, vents, openings, fugitives, etc.) to the atmosphere within the property boundary.



(b) This Rule shall apply to all new and existing stationary sources engaged in the handling or processing of mercury and not subject to standards on emissions for mercury in Rule .0530, .1110, or .1111 of this Subchapter. (c) An owner or operator of a stationary source engaged in the handling or processing of mercury shall not cause, allow, or permit particulate or gaseous mercury emissions in excess of 2300 grams per day into the outdoor atmosphere.
